How free screenings from the Men’s Group changed peoples lives

Alan, many thanks to you and The St. Louis Men’s Group Against Cancer for a five-year partnership with Fox 2, Missouri Baptist Medical Center and Urology Consultants, Ltd. to offer FREE prostate cancer screenings to men to our community.  It truly is saving lives.  Thought you’d like to see the wrap-up report:

Free Prostate Cancer Screening:  Sat., Sept. 25
276 – PSA blood tests and digital rectal exams were conducted
47 – Registered, but didn’t show up

Direct Mail & Internal Medical Center Graphics 140,000 – Households received the attached full-page health screening reminder, which included The St. Louis Men’s Group Against Cancer logo and a mention of our five-year partnership.

19 – The attached full-screen graphic ran on 19 in-house monitors in highly trafficked areas throughout the medical center’s campus to drive registration.  The organization’s logo was included.

Fox 2 Interviews
9/12 Live interview with a man who participated in this free screening last year.  He not only had prostate cancer, but kidney cancer, too.  Interviewed also with his urologist.  It was the first Rams game, so they expected heavy male viewership.

9/23 (two days before the screening) – Tom O’Neal introduced a package about the same patient story.  After it aired, 23 men picked up the phone to register.  The next day, men continued to call as a result of Fox 2 airing this story.

9/25 – Coverage of the screening aired in their 6 and 9 p.m. newscasts. There was no early newscast that day.

Prostate Cancer Screening Results Sent to Participants Every participant was sent a letter including their results and encouraging them to visit their primary care physician if levels were out of range.

Will let you know if Fox 2 decides to follow the patient’s prostate cancer treatment as part of this partnership to detect prostate cancer early.  We are most grateful for your continued support and special efforts and those of The St. Louis Men’s Group Against Cancer.
